Electric potential due to a dipole

If a point lies at a distance x from the midpoint of the dipole the electric potential is?

Asked Sai Mohan

Answer:

If the distance x is along the equatorial plane (a plane passing through the midpoint and perpendicular to the axis), the potential will be zero.

Please clarify what did you mean.

Average velocity

Is average velocity equals to (initial +final velocity)/2

Asked Ishita

Answer:

Velocity

Not always. The average velocity =(initial velocity +final velocity)/2; only if the body is undergoing uniform acceleration or retardation.

If a body is accelerated for some time and then decelerates then the above formula will not give a correct answer.

So, in general, the above formula cannot be used if the body possesses a variable acceleration.
