A Question from Rotational Mechanics
August 29, 2013 / Leave a comment
A thin spherical shell lying on a rough horizontal surface is hit by a cue in such a way that the lines of action passes through the centre of shell. As a result the shell starts moving with a linear speed ‘V’ without any initial angular velocity. Find the linear speed of the shell after it starts pure rolling on surface.

The First Android App from AskPhysics – gCalc
April 17, 2012 / Leave a comment
AskPhysics is now concentrating on releasing a series of useful apps for android devices.
The first in the series is gCalc –
“An Android app which when supplied with the weight of a body on earth can find the weight on other planets, moon, and dwarf planets.”
The author of the App is Mr. Vishnu – A fan of Physics (and askphysics too) and Android apps.
You can download the app and then
1.) Make sure if Install from Unknown Sources is enabled.
(Settings –> Applications –> enable “Unknown Sources”
(Settings –> Applications –> enable “Unknown Sources”
2.) open the downloaded file
3.) Accept and Install.
4.) Open the app ( gCalc in the Menu)
Click Here to Download the app (If you are browsing from pc, you can later transfer it to your android device and install.)
See below a screenshot of the app.
