“The Philosophers who worked in search of the Philosophers’ stone and those set themselves dedicated to find the elixir of life”The works of those in search of the Philosopher’s stone didn’t go in vain, They made the beginning. The beginning itself was so wonderful that anyone who got touched by the idea got fascinated and this lead to a group of philosophers setting aside everything and did series of experiments. Though THEY were not successful if finding out a way or means to turn anything to gold, it helped the evolvement and enrichment of the Natural Philosophy. The Alchemists and the work which followed for years helped the development of the present day science, which is better than GOLD. The efforts also resulted in the discovery of many more precious metals other than Gold.
Which supports my theory “If you are not getting the one you are dreaming for, Better ones are awaiting you” The advancement in Science and Technology which capacitated the then philosophers the present scientists to work wonders, all started from the quest for the mysterious substance which could turn anything to Gold. I would like to say this was not a reverie, but it was a challenging and motivational beginning; unless for the sparkling of the GOLD involved in it, the alchemists wouldn’t have so many followers.Similar is the research on Elixir of life. Extensive research is going on REGENERATIVE REPROGRAMMING. We “grow old” and approach death mainly because of the system stops producing new cells. Now In Vivo reprogramming is under research and implementation on animals to increase the lifespan and combat the irreversibility of ageing.Though both the streams started with an apparently impossible concept, but what they resulted were worth more than what they actually wanted. To add, the amount of quality literature that resulted from the concept; aren’t they priceless? How well it is catching the attention and imagination of children and adult alike in Harry Porter etc(Let the discussions go on. Reflections and reactions welcomed)
